We went to Utah to my parents house for Thanksgiving, which also happened to be Byron's Birthday (FUN, Birthday with the in-laws again [only joking Mom]
Byron got a new engine for his truck for his Birthday. He is so lucky. I picked it out all by myself! Okay, not even close, but the good news is the truck is already done. One of our RUDE Las Vegas neighbors didn't like that we had the truck parked in front of our house. He saw that the engine was out of it and wrote the home owners association trying to make us move it. Byron had to take a week off of work to finish it. Thank goodness the price of gas has gone down because now we have to drive the truck everywhere to break in the engine. The gas mileage improved a little with the new engine. It is now up to 11 miles per gallon. And the best part, it is still parked in front of our house and the ridiculous neighbor cannot do anything about it. I guess the problem with the neighbor is that he likes to play with his small child in the middle of the road and our truck is in his way. I feel like such an idiot. I thought roads were for cars and not children. Welcome to Las Vegas! Byron also got a new bike from his parents (but he got it a few months ago), Mario Cart for the Wii and a gift card to autozone (we need more parts for the truck I guess).
We found out we are moving to Tucson, Arizona next March. We will be stationed at Davis Monthan AFB, which will hopefully be our last stop until Byron retires. We only have four more years to go. We are thinking about buying a house when we get to Tucson since it is a buyers market, but we will have to see. Luckily while I was visiting the Martin Harris Phoenix office a couple weeks ago I got to go take a quick look at Tucson. It is about a two hour drive from Phoenix. I haven't ever been there and Byron has only been there a couple times. Both of us are rather tired of Vegas and ready for a change. If nothing else, I am sure it will be an adventure and there are much worse places we could have ended up. It is just one step closer to moving back to Utah and our five acres in Bothwell (yep I am going to live in Tremonton!) However, if anyone knows anyone hiring in Tucson, I am in the job market.
Shawn got me a copy of Sex and the City for Christmas and I have been wearing it out. I even made Byron sit through it. He is really so lucky. Thanks Shawn!
And last but not least, I am officially unemployed. Yeah not too happy about that but life happens. The construction company I worked for had several large jobs shut down in the middle of the project and have not been successful in getting new work for the upcoming year. They are on their fourth round of big layoffs and unfortunately it was my time to go. I didn't think I would ever get fired in my life, but there is a first time for everything. Luckily, as mentioned, we are moving to Tucson soon so I was going to have to leave the company anyway. It would have been nice to get a few more paychecks, but luckily we don't have to worry about Byron getting laid off for the next four years. The good news out of all this...I will have plenty of time for blogging, getting my house ready for the big move and visiting with friends and family.
There is always a bright side to everything, right?
I will try to take more pictures so my next posting isn't so BORING.
