I know, I have been such a slacker! I was doing so good at keeping up on the blogging thing for a few weeks and then nothing. I still have some posts saved from our Disneyland trip that I just haven't got to post yet. Hopefully I will catch up in the next few days.
So had an interview in Tucson last week at the University of Arizona. I am keeping my fingers crossed that I will get the job! I think the interview went well but I haven't heard anything back yet. Of course the interview was on Thursday afternoon so it hasn't been too long.
Byron and I headed to Tucson on Sunday and made it in time to watch the Superbowl. Some of you may have heard the big news that only in Tucson suddenly the Superbowl changed into hard core porn for a few minutes. Well it was only on certain service providers. We watched the game at Chili's (BEST margaritas and wings) and the porn did not show up. We really had a shot at being part of history, dang!
We went and looked at about 15 houses on Monday, made an offer on our favorite one on Tuesday, the owner counter offered at 5 PM on Wednesday, we accepted the offer on Thursday and did our home inspection of Friday before we drove back to Vegas. Yes that is right, we are the proud owners of a new home. Our loan officially closes on March 3 and then it will be all ours. The only big catch left for us to get through is the appraisal and our Realtors don't think we should have a problem with the house we got.
Of course we forgot our camera, we are the worst at remembering that stupid thing. Luckily our Realtor and the home inspector let me take some pictures with their camera so I would have something to show you. I have some from our Realtor, but the inspector hasn't sent me his yet. I will post some soon. We are excited. The house is in desperate need of a serious cleaning and a fresh coat of paint. There are of course a ton of projects that we already want to do too, but it is at least move in ready so if I get a job soon I could live in the house until Byron could come down. It is not a foreclosure and the owners had a professional cleaner coming in this week. The house had tenants in it the last couple months and they left it a bit of a mess. Our Realtors tried to convince us that foreclosurs weren't really the good deals on the market right now but we didn't believe them. After looking at all the houses it turns out they are right. The forclosures are in such bad condition and missing anything the isn't impossible to steal. Apparenlty if you are loosing your house it is customary to take things like fire alarms, all the lighting, hardware and toilets just to name a few. And most of the foreclosures look like they had never been cleaned and dirt was regularly smeared on the walls. The worst part...the foreclosures were priced higher than the houses that had been taken care of at least a little.
The weather in Tucson was gorgeous. The wind only blew one day (it blows almost every day in Vegas) and it was between 70 and 80 degrees everyday. We got back to Vegas and it has been raining ever since. We are beginning to think we took a wrong turn on the way home and ended up in Seattle on accident. This winter Vegas has suddenly decided to not have the beautiful weather that we have come to love. This week the temps are supposed to only get up to about 58 degrees. BRRRRRR!!!
